| Located in the
highly sensitive coastal environment, the new clubhouse
is designed to sit comfortably within its dramatic surroundings.
The precast concrete panels on the ground floor are enriched
by the use of local granite and basalt aggregate. Reclaimed
ironbark jetty timbers form the main structure of the building,
with the upper floor clad in radially sawn timber boards.
The timber will be left to weather and become an integrated
part of this spectactular coast line.
The project was funded by a variety of organisations
including Bass Coast Shire Council, Phillip Island Nature
Parks, Sport and Recreation, the Community Support Fund
and the Woolamai Beach Surf Life Saving Club. |
