| The Churchill
Island Visitor Centre provides an entry focus for people visiting
Churchill Island, an island rich in cultural and natural features
and uniquely blessed with an arcadian sense of peace and tranquility.
Reached by a bridge from Phillip Island, the Island is the
site of the first European dwelling, crops and garden in Victoria
dating back to 1801. The building serves as a take-off and
return point for visitors to the island, incorporating car
and bus parks and links with a series of paths to the historic
buildings and walking trails. It orientates and informs visitors
about the natural and pre-european history of the Island and
comprises of a small shop, cafe and administration, as well
as a multi-purpose space. |
